I've been working on reading this book in 2015, picking it up and reading a few essays at a time between other books. Its fascinating, and jarring when you come across a phrase that is eerily contemporary. There is some gross content, but it is part of the extremist views.

I recommend it, pick it up if you want an over-the-top parody.

Sounded really good and it probably is for many readers but the snarky tone in the first few chapters just put me off. Rare for me to not read further on. Written in the vein of Swift's classic "A Modest Proposal," which I did enjoy, maybe because it snuck up on me more quietly. Maybe I will try it again later based on others' good reports.
I.was.skeptical when I.read the synopsis but this is actually an excellent book. A lot of visible parallels. Definitely a should read

A very insightful book that reflects current political and economic trends set in a future where humans have disappeared from the Earth. A story that has several layers that speak to our current world situation the we, as people of this planet need to heed.

i had a hard time getting my mind into an earth deserted by humans and taken over by dogs
who acted like humans. i will say they certainly picked up on most of man's greed and need for
power. takes an interesting turn at the end. if you like different, than give it a try.
The lesson in this book seems to be that even if you find a way to become highly evolved and very smart, you still have no guarantees. That's what happened in this book. Through some genetic engineering, dogs were now the dominant species on earth, with the ability to speak, write, do science, and make decisions on their futures. They still long for the old humans, however, and they seem to think that somehow, some way, they can follow the humans to the stars, which is evidently where the humans had gone. There are huge differences between identifying a goal, and having the will and skill to attain it. That's especially true if your leaders are better at spouting pretty phrases that actually getting work done. In the words of Yoda, "There is no 'try.' Do, or do not; there is no 'try.'"
One of the best satires I've read in a long time!

I'm a bit of a cheapskate - I admit it. But finding free e-books is often a great way to discover new authors and books I might not be tempted to buy. The description of this book hooked me, and I'm glad I downloaded it.

Dogs, abandoned when humans left the earth centuries before, have evolved and founded their own civilizations. Religion is based on an ancient Batman comic, and the same ills that humans faced are now bedeviling the dogs war, class systems, racial tensions, economic issues.

Daniel Undeo's unique way of looking at society and its issues, through the eyes of the dogs, is always humorous, incredibly insightful, and often eye-opening.

It's a great story and worth the read at any price.
